Month 13, Day 14: To the ER

We took a very warm Max (103.5 F) to the ER on the evening of January 18. He had been feeling under the weather for a few days, and on the advice of the on-call insurance nurse, we jumped in the car. By the time we got there around 10pm, Infant Tylenol had worked its wonders, and he was perky and flirting with the nurses. The doctor said it was probably a respiratory virus and said he would be fine. And he's much better these days, although Mom and Dad are now sick! Below are some pictures of Monday night before his bathtime and his ER adventure.

Month 13, Day 10: Storytime Max

It's been a while since our last update! While we made it to and from Missouri safely over the holidays (where we encountered even more snow), we came home to a cold apartment. Our heater's been on the fritz since December 29, and our wonderful landlord said that it would be yet another week before the replacement parts would be here. So while we holed up in our bedrooms with space heaters during the deep freeze over the past few weeks, pictures of Max were few and far in between. But now you can enjoy Max at bedtime below.

Aside from the very vocal dismay during diaper changes and the screaming fit while we brush his teeth, the routine seems to meet Max's approval (except on those nights that he has so much fun that he can't bear to be put in his crib). After bathtime with Dad, Mom gets Max into his PJs and plays with him a bit before storytime. Which as you can see below typically turns into a wrestling match as Max tries to pry the book out of Dad's hands.

Finally, Max was content to sit next to Dad for the rest of the story.

2009 Christmas Holidays

Below are pictures from our trip to visit family in Missouri for the holidays. Max had a great time with all of his cousins, grandparents, uncles, and aunts!

Mom had to go through some additional security procedures because of Max's milk in her purse. Max kept Mom company on the other side of the partition.

Max the Carry-on Baby. Dad considered leaving him in the overhead bin since he didn't have his own seat.

Max and his Papa at storytime.

The Harr Family - the first time we've all been together since our newest addition.

My dear friend Leslie, her husband Neil, and their adorable one-year old Landon came up from KC to visit on our last night (see their site for more pictures). They arranged for two surprise visitors - Erin and Alice, old college friends. The last time we were all together was back in 2000!
