Being Spoiled x 2

There was no lack of pictures during the boys' visit (Wyatt's first) to Missouri where both were cuddled and spoiled by Mom's family. It was a wonderful trip, and as usual, too short. We look forward to returning to the farm soon. Love to all.

After five straight nights of being woken up every half hour with coughs and kicks, Mom finally moved Max to the couch after he fell asleep.
Max cuddling with Carsyn, while watching (what else??) Cars.
Max's boots deserve a special mention. Anything else on his feet result in an all-out temper tantrum. Like the one he threw at the airport because Mom had to take them off for security. Two-year olds can be nuts.
It's only appropriate that Wyatt's bouncy chair had a farm theme!

Egg-Mania

Not only did Max have his first Easter egg hunt this year, he had THREE of them! And for a two-year old, that's a lot of plastic eggs.

Round 1: A week before Easter, we braved pouring rain and wind to take Max to the egg hunt on the town green. Everything and everyone got soaked. Mom and Wyatt attempted in vain to stay dry under the tent, while Dad and Max lined up behind the rope of the toddler patch. Minutes ticked by, while poor parents and cold little kids waited... and waited... and waited for the signal. The organizers were delaying the start for some stragglers who hadn't quite made it to the green. But when it was clear they weren't in a hurry to catch up, Dad bellowed "Let's go!" The toddlers didn't move a muscle, but the older group took off running like crazy. And hence, the egg hunt began. Thanks, Dad. (and lacking an understanding that more is better and speed is essential, Max ignored the eggs at his feet and instead would skip to one end of the area to pick up one egg and back to the other side to get another)

Round 2: While visiting the grandparents in Missouri, he embark on another hunt in the park. And this time, Mom got pictures. Loads of pictures.

Yes, some of Max's eggs from the park hunt had MONEY in them. These are the kinds of eggs that Dad likes.

Round 3: On Easter, Max got his first visit from the elusive Easter Bunny, who somehow knew Max was at his Mama and Papa's house.
Then it was off to Uncle Mike and Aunt Jennifer's for dinner...and bubbles...and another Easter egg hunt.

Showing off his mad bubble-blowing skills to Cousin Carsyn.
Practice makes perfect!
Getting some helpful egg-finding tips from Sydney (above), Aunt Jennifer, and Carsyn.
Wrapping up the festivities with a little rap (with help from Uncle Mike and Carsyn).
And of course, Wyatt was enjoying plenty of cuddle time with the family.

Haircut at Donnie's

After waiting more than two years for his first haircut, Max was in need of another within three months. While visiting the grandparents in Missouri, his Papa took him to his barber, Donnie, on the town square.

Max peering out from his cardboard fort, his shaggy locks clearly in need of a trim.

A "before" picture: Papa and Max outside of Donnie's.

Max waiting, a bit apprehensively, for a chair to open up.

Donnie wasn't there, so another old-timer stepped up. Max was not happy with the idea, so we had to bribe him with promises of an ice cream cone from Dairy Queen.
The only time that Max cracked a smile during the whole thing was when he was being poked with a vacuum hose.

Yes, the shop had a wooden Indian, probably because our high school mascot is the Savage (we're not quite PC here).

Post-cut picture.

Chowing down on his promised ice cream cone.
Cousin Carsyn added a bit of punk to his new do.
Max rewarded her styling services with a kiss.
