No, Mom is NOT trying to get Max to grow up fast. In fact, she'd prefer that he stay a baby forever. But Max has shown interest in cups (for example, he likes to grab the cup we use to rinse him off during his baths), and Mom thought it might be a nice alternative to the bottle (which he doesn't particularly like). So he was introduced to Sippy today.
While he seems to have mastered the grip and bringing it to his mouth, he didn't quite understand the "sippy" skill and just gnawed on the spout. (Mom tested the cup - it's actually not easy to "sip" it out with the valve in; and without the valve, it just pours out too fast!)
